Blair J Lariviere

Blair J. Lariviere, 66, of 181 Cook Road, Templeton, died suddenly Thursday, December 18th in St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester.

Born in Gardner on December 13, 1942, he was the son of Theodore and Doris (Belair) Lariviere.

Blair was an Art Teacher, employed in the Gardner Public School System for 34 years, retiring in 2002. He also taught G.E.D. classes at Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner.

Blair was a graduate of Gardner High School, Gardner with the class of 1960. He completed his undergraduate studies at Clark University, Worcester in 1964. He received his Masters Degree in Art from Assumption College, Worcester in 1966.

Blair was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Gun Owners Action League. Since the age of 16, he was a member of the Gardner Rifle and Pistol Club, serving as president and vice president several times, most recently as vice president this past year.

Blair served in the Massachusetts National Guard.

He enjoyed target shooting, trap and skeet shooting, throwing pottery and oil painting.

He leaves his wife of 39 years, Susan H. (Byron) Lariviere of Templeton; one son, David J. Lariviere of Nashua, NH; one daughter, Cristie A. Dunn and her husband Thomas, J. of Gardner; one niece, Stacey Manseau of Lunenburg; one nephew, Mark Byron of Lunenburg. He was predeceased by one brother, Eugene Lariviere.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 29th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, December 28th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made out to Susan Lariviere, PO Box 31, 181 Cook Road, Templeton, MA 01468. These funds will be used to establish a scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior from Gardner High School who will be furthering their education in an art career.
