Beverly M. "Betty" (Morse) Stone, 88, a resident of 225 Gardner Road, Hubbardston for over 40 years, died Saturday, February 7, 2015 in her daughter's home surrounded by family, following a long illness.
Born in Athol on August 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Bayard and Madeline (Bancroft) Morse.
Beverly graduated from Athol High School with the Class of 1944.
She was employed by Stop 'n Shop of Gardner as a cashier for 23 years, retiring in 1990.
Beverly enjoyed playing Bingo, Cribbage, Scrabble with her good friend Bernie and playing Pitch in Pitch Leagues. She enjoyed watching television, going for car rides- especially with her niece Linny, and was a loyal fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. In her early years she was an avid roller skater and ice skater. Beverly loved to cook, and especially loved spending time with her family.
She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Robert Stone, who died May 27, 2004.
Beverly leaves one son, Jeffrey Stone of Hubbardston; one daughter, Joni L. Parent and her husband Ronald of Templeton; one sister-in-law, Elsie Morse of Baldwinville; two grandchildren, Chad and Clint Stinnett; three great-grandchildren, Amelie, Sofia and Summer; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by three brothers, Douglas Morse, Barry Morse and Richard Morse.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 16th at 12:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Reverend Dr. R. Gary Heikkila will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Baldwinville.
A calling hour will be held Monday, February 16th from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
