Bertha E. (Girouard) Bourque, 92, of 121 Waterford Street, Gardner, formerly of Daytona Beach, FL, died peacefully, Wednesday, November 5, 2014 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester.
Bertha was born in Gardner on April 11, 1922, the daughter of the late George and Blanche (Beaudet) Girouard.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner, and graduated from the former Our Lady of the Holy Rosary High School in 1939.
Bertha was a bank teller employed by Shawmut Bank of Gardner for several years prior to retiring in 1989.
She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, reading, watching television, dining out and especially loved spending time with her family.
Bertha was predeceased by her husband, Ivan "Joe" Bourque who died in 2012.
She leaves one brother, Jovide Girouard and his wife Frances of Gardner; one sister, Theresa Ducharme of Gardner; one brother-in-law, Raymond Casavant of of Wakefield; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by one brother, Kenneth Girouard and by two sisters, Priscilla Casavant and Georgette Lavoie.
Funeral Services and burial will be held Monday, December 1st at 2:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Road, Winchendon.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to Gardner Animal Control Facility, with checks made payable to City of Gardner Shelter Fund, c/o Board of Health, 95 Pleasant Street, Room 29, Gardner, MA 01440.
