Barbara A. (Hojnowski) Hamel, 65, of 60 Baldwinville State Rd., Winchendon, died Monday, May 29th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, Gardner, following a short illness.
Born in Gardner on December 31, 1940, she was the daughter of Edward V. Hojnowski.
She was a cashier employed by Sedexho-Marriott Co. at Simplex Time Recorder Co., Westminster for 10 years until retiring in 1999. She previously worked at Victory Supermarket and Stop & Shop Supermarket.
She was a 1958 graduate of Gardner High School. Barbara was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church. She enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and loved animals.
She leaves her husband of 41 years, Robert R. Hamel of Winchendon; 1 daughter, Karen E. Dempsey of Winchendon; her mother, Anne Albina (Sabulis) Hojnowski of Baldwinville; 1 brother, Edward V. Hojnowski Jr. and wife Martha of Pownal, VT; 2 grandchildren, Korrie L. Dempsey of Winchendon and Warren C. Dempsey of Rindge, NH; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Friday, June 2nd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross St., Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, June 1st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
