Barbara J. Gabis-Sundblom, 75, of Gardner died peacefully Wednesday, April 23, 2014 in The Highlands of Fitchburg.
Born in Gardner on September 18, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Raymond T. F. and Jeanne Y. (Vallee) Gabis.
Barbara attended Gardner High School, Gardner and received her G.E.D. from Mount Wachusett Community College of Gardner in 1992.
Barbara was employed by Digital Equipment Corporation of Westfield, Gardner and Maynard as an Administrator for 20 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. She was also a member of the American Legion Templeton Post 373 Women's Auxilliary of Baldwinville.
Barbara studied family genealogy and also researched the family heritage of the Abenaki Tribe. Barbara loved summers in Maine and was the biggest Elvis fan. She was a kind, gentle soul and her smile could light up a room. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara leaves two sons, Armand Lefebvre and his wife Lori of Springfield and James Lefebvre of Jensen Beach, FL; one daughter, Janice Benoit of Gardner; four brothers, David J. Gabis and his wife Patricia of Cheboygan, MI, Donald R. Gabis and his wife Marie of Templeton, Robert C. Gabis and his wife Colleen of Hubbardston and Michael R. Gabis of Gardner; five grandchildren, Andrew, Angela, Robert, Trevor, Missy and Christopher; three great-grandchildren; two aunts, Wanda Bator and Irene Vallee; several nieces and nephews. She also leaves her special friend, Rebecca Amaral of Fitchburg. Barbara was predeceased by her son, Phillip Lefebvre who died in 1974 and by her husband, Leonard Sundblom who died in 2014.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 3rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour will be Saturday, May 3rd from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
