Barbara H. (Hamilton) Bronson, 88, of 221 Hubbardston Road, Templeton, formerly of 171 Blanchard Street, Gardner, died peacefully Sunday, January 9, 2011 in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, with her family at her side.
Barbara was born in Portland, Maine on August 28, 1922, the daughter of the late Earl and Dorothy Mae (Marshed) Hamilton.
Prior to retiring in 1987, she was a Licensed Practical Nurse employed by the Baldwinville Nursing Home for seven years. She was previously employed at Gardner State Hospital.
Barbara graduated from Mexico High School in Mexico, Maine with the
Class of 1940. She attended Vespar George School of Art in Boston in 1941.
Barbara was a member of Mission Street Congregational Street in Gardner.
She was a United States WWII Navy Veteran and received the WWII Victory Medal and the American Theater Ribbon.
Her hobbies included painting, drawing and gardening. She enjoyed attending fairs and recently studied Tai-Chi.
Barbara was predeceased by her husband, William F. Bronson who died in 1994.
She leaves two sons, Theodore E. Bronson and his wife Nancy of Fitchburg, Robert P. Bronson and his wife Susan of Templeton; one daughter, Patricia D. Ianotti and her husband Raymond of Louisville, KY; one brother, John Hamilton and his wife Ginger of Oceanside, CA; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Barbara was predeceased by a son, William F. Bronson, Jr. who died in 1976 from injuries sustained in Vietnam.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 18th at 12:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Tuesday, January 18th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
