Arthur "Lyn" L. Caouette, 75, of 31 Ridge Street, Westminster died Tuesday, May 29th in St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester following a brief illness.
He was born in Ashburnham on November 28, 1931, the son of the late Joseph and Lena (Fagan) Caouette.
Arthur was a custodian employed by the Ashburnham & Westminster Regional School district for 15 years, retiring in 1993. He was previously employed by Heywood Wakefield Co., Gardner.
He was a graduate of Troy High School, Troy, NH, with the class of 1949.
Arthur was a member of St. Edwards the Confessor Church, Westminster. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Post 905, Gardner.
Sports were a huge aspect of Arthur's life. His son Gary is the football coach at Oakmont High School and his grandson, Timothy is the assistant baseball coach and head basketball coach at Gardner High School, all of which Arthur was an avid fan and follower. He also enjoyed watching his grandson, Tim play baseball for The Lunenburg Phillies.
Arthur was a Korean War U.S. Air Force Veteran and received the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, Bronze Star to Korean Service Medal and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation.
He was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Helen L. (McNelis) Caouette, who died March 12, 2007.
He leaves one son, Gary L. Caouette of Westminster and his fiancé Kathryn L. Dymek of Fitchburg; one grandson, Timothy R. Caouette of Westminster; 2 aunts, Wilhelmina Caouette and Rita Montville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Terry L. Caouette of Washington, D.C. who died in 1993, and a brother, Louis L. Caouette of Clinton, MA who died in 1998.
Funeral services will be held Monday, June 4th at 1:30 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will be in Woodside Cemetery, Westminster.
A calling hour will be Monday, June 4th from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
