Arnold A. Dupuis, 92, of 281 Harvard Road, Bolton and formerly of Gardner, died peacefully, Friday, December 17, 2010 surrounded by family, in his residence.
Born in Ashburnham on February 28, 1918, he was the son of the late Clifford and Eva Louise (LaBrack) Dupuis.
Prior to retiring, Arnold was an L.P.N. employed for 15 years at the Gardner State Hospital. He previously was owner and operator of Arnold's Barber Shop on Pleasant Street in Gardner for 30 years.
Arnold graduated from Fitchburg High School with the Class of 1936. He earned his L.P.N. degree from Gardner State Hospital, Gardner in 1968.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner. He was also a Third Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Gardner Council 396 and the American Legion Post 129 of Gardner.
Arnold was a United States WWII Navy Veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal.
His hobbies included playing cards, reading, gardening and fishing. He enjoyed working around the house and was well known for making excellent rootbeer. He and his wife Rose enjoyed taking Gardner State Hospital patients every year on a 31day trip to Camp Collier. His trip to California in 1995 to visit his sister was one of his fondest memories. Arnold most enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.
Besides his wife of 71 years, Rose A. (Melanson) Dupuis of Bolton, he leaves three sons, Father Paul Dupuis of Somerville, MA, Father Simon Dupuis of St. Jude ODM of Quebec, Canada and Peter M. Dupuis and his wife Stacey of Bolton; one sister-in-law, Eve Dupuis of Niceville, Florida; one brother-in-law, Alexander Kuhnel of Santa Rosa, CA; three grandchildren, Christopher Hoxie, Luke Dupuis and Catherine Dupuis; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harlan Dupuis and Christopher Dupuis and by four sisters, Dorothy Smith, Leona Seremba, Eleanor Kuhnel and Marie Boulanger.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 21st at 11:30 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Tuesday, December 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
