Anthony J. Gaudet, 73, of 1 Whitney Street, Gardner, died unexpectedly Thursday, July 3, 2014 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, surrounded by his family.
Born in Minto, N.B., Canada on January 7, 1941, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Rita (Bourgeois) Gaudet.
Anthony was a Foreman employed by Alpha Rho, Inc., of Fitchburg for five years, retiring in 2006. He was previously employed by various manufacturing companies.
He was a United States Vietnam War Army Veteran and received the Marksman (Rifle M-1) Badge.
Anthony was a member of St. Joseph's Church of Fitchburg. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 429 of Fitchburg, and the Deep Sea Club of Gardner.
He was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching sports on television. He enjoyed working around the house, reading The Gardner News, walking and gardening. He treasured spending time with his family.
Anthony leaves his wife of 52 years, Alice M. (Cormier) Gaudet of Gardner; two sons, Benjamin J. Gaudet and his wife Cheryl of Winchendon and Anthony J. Gaudet, Jr. and his significant other, Jane Lyons of Gardner; two daughters, Geraldine M. Valliere of Gardner and Barbara M. Forgues and her husband Lee of Gardendale, AL; two brothers, David Gaudet and his wife Valerie of Ontario, Canada and Donald Gaudet and his wife Margaret of Ontario, Canada; three sisters, Geraldine Currie and her husband Michael of Nova Scotia, Canada, Janet McNellan of Ontario, Canada and Linda Wuhr and her husband Alan of Minto, N.B., Canada; seven grandchildren, Larissa Love, Nathan Forgues, Tiffany Gaudet, Amy Gaudet, Dustin Gaudet, Anthony J. Gaudet, III and Nicole Gaudet; three step-grandchildren, Adam Kinosian, Kayla Murphy and Kristen Murphy; six great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Memorial Service and burial will be held Friday, July 11th at 12:00 p.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.
A calling hour will be held Friday, July 11th from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
