Anne H. (Cowell) Scott, 90, of Lebanon, CT, formerly of 194 Central Street, Gardner and 157 Woodland Avenue, Gardner, died Friday, December 4th in St. Vincent's Hospital, Worcester, following a brief illness.
Born in Woodland, Maine on December 26, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Fabienna (Gagne) Cowell.
Anne attended schools in Rumford, Maine and Mexico, Maine.
Prior to retiring in 1976, Anne was employed by the former Gardner State Hospital as a dietary cook for 27 years.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner. She was a member of the Gardner Women's Club, the Heywood Hospital Aid Association, the Gardner Chapter of AARP, and the Women's Professional Business Club.
Anne was an accomplished floral arranger. She enjoyed crafting and was an avid reader.
Anne was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Stephen R. Scott, who died in 2001.
She leaves two sons, D. Michael Barry of Westminster and Stephen P. Barry and his significant other Debra of Gardner; one daughter, Carol A. Clark and her significant other Jerry of Leesburg, FL; one step-daughter, Beverly Blakeslee and her husband Doug of Lebanon, CT; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren; and three nieces. Anne was predeceased by two sons, Alan F. Barry, who was the twin of Stephen, died in 1950, and Richard D. Barry died in 1984; one daughter, Marilyn E. Barry died in 1947. She was also predeceased by three sisters, and one brother.
A Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Wildwood Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Tuesday, December 8th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
