Anne M. (Blenniss) Bialy, 74, of 174 B. Blanchard St., Gardner, died Sunday, April 22nd in Heywood Hospital, following an illness.
She was born in Mt. Vernon, NY on October 10, 1932, the daughter of the late Henry and Harriet (Studwell) Blenniss, and moved to Gardner in the mid 1980s.
Anne was a Bank Teller employed by Workers Credit Union for 10 years, retiring in 1995. She was previously employed by GFA Federal Credit Union, Gardner.
Anne graduated from St. Gabriel High School in New Rochelle, NY.
She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Gardner.
Anne was a loyal friend, and loving mother. She was an accomplished knitter, and was always willing to donate her items for the benefit of others. She will be most remembered as the "Mitten Lady", raising funds for Gardner High School Band uniforms and for their trip to Walt Disney World in Florida. Anne knitted hats, sweaters and blankets for premature infants at Worcester Memorial Hospital in Worcester. She knitted a red, white and blue American flag afghan to raise money for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Anne also taught knitting to local Girl Scouts.
She leaves 2 sons, Paul J. Bialy and his wife Mary of Shelton, CT and Michael P. Bialy of Merrimack, NH; 2 daughters, Dr. Peggy A. LaBrosse and her husband John of Merrimack, NH, and Patricia L. Murray and her partner Timothy Eacobacci of Rindge, NH; 2 grandchildren, Frankie and Gina Bialy. She was predeceased by a son, Frankie E. Bialy who died in 1975, and a brother Francis Blenniss who died in 1955.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 27th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday, April 26th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made to the HOPE, House of Peace and Education, 20 Barthel Avenue, Gardner, MA 01440.
A Memorial Mass will be held in New York on Saturday, May 12th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Catharine's Catholic Church, 25 Second Avenue, Pelham, NY. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, New Rochelle, NY. A reception will follow, location to be announced.
A 30 day anniversary Mass is scheduled for June 6th at 9:00 a.m., and a one year Mass is scheduled for April 20, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. and April 22, 2008 at 9:00 a.m., all Masses to be held at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
