Anna Marie (Hajdukiewicz) Sawicki, 96, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2022, in her residence.
Born in Gardner on October 23, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Sophia (Malinowska) Hajdukiewicz. She graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1943 and received an Associates Degree through the Henry Heywood Hospital Nursing Program. Anna was a Registered Nurse employed by Heywood Hospital where she was the charge nurse for Favor I for many years prior to her retirement.
Anna was a parishioner of the former St. Joseph’s Church of Gardner and of Annunciation Parish/ Holy Spirit Chapel of Gardner. Upon her retirement, Anna and her husband enjoyed traveling. More recently she enjoyed watching the birds in the backyard and hosting family gatherings. She was also constantly searching for and experimenting with new recipes.
Anna is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Anna is predeceased by her husband of 66-years, Walter Sawicki, who died in 2016; and five brothers, Victor, Joseph, John, Stanley, and Frank Hajdukiewicz
Funeral Services will be held Monday, June 13, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. in Annunciation Parish at Holy Spirit Chapel, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner, MA. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
