Ann R. (Waskiewicz) Lepkowski, 72, of 23 Myrtle Road, Gardner, died peacefully Thursday, September 10, 2015 in her home surrounded by family, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Gardner on January 11, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Michael D. and Georgianna (Vachowski) Waskiewicz. She spent her early childhood in S. Ashburnham before moving to Baldwinville.
Ann graduated from Narragansett Regional High School of Baldwinville with the Class of 1961. She graduated from St. Vincent School of Nursing and received her Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing from Fitchburg State University of Fitchburg.
Ann was a Registered Nurse employed by the Templeton Developmental Center of Baldwinville as the the Director of Nursing for 23 years, retiring in 2004. She was previously employed by Heywood Hospital of Gardner and GVNA Healthcare Inc. of Gardner.
She was a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Church of Gardner. Ann was also a member of the St. Vincent School of Nursing Alumni.
Ann enjoyed reading, quilting, traveling and gardening. She treasured spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Ann & her husband were avid cruisers, enjoying their last cruise on a 12 night Mediterranean voyage. Ann's favorite vacation was the family's annual two weeks in Sagamore Beach every July, where they were joined by their daughters, grandchildren, and extended family and friends who visited. This past July was an especially special time. Ann's career in helping others was part of her every day ways. She built lifelong friendships throughout every stage of her life, and also with others she met while traveling.
Ann is described by many as one of the most wonderful people they've ever met. She will be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit, her positive attitude, her fearless determination, and strong will to never give up. She was a role model of strength to her daughters and grandchildren and leaves a legacy of showing kindness and compassion to others, patience, honesty, dedication to friends & family, and her ability to form meaningful and lifelong friendships. Her optimism left a lasting impression on all those that she touched.
Ann leaves her husband of 46 years, Richard B. Lepkowski of Gardner; two daughters, Kathryn Salz and her husband Benjamin of Miami, FL and Karen Crum and her husband Jeffery of Hopkinton; two brothers, John Wake of Westchester, OH and Michael Waskiewicz and his wife Patricia of Rochester, NH; four grandchildren, Kyla, Camden and Colby Crum and Aidan Salz; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 15th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in St. Vincent de Paul Church, 1 Forest Street, Baldwinville. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, West Street, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Monday, September 14th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
