Anita E. (Collette) Vaillancourt, 80, of 61 Lake St., Gardner, died Thursday, April 14th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following an illness.
Born in Gardner on September 21, 1924, she was the daughter of J. Delphis and Alma (Houde) Collette.
She was a bookkeeper and payroll clerk employed by Nichols & Stone Co. of Gardner for 3 years, retiring in 1987. She previously worked at George Bent Co. of Gardner for 13 years. She also worked at Simplex Time Recorder Co. of Gardner.
She was a 1942 graduate of Gardner High School and attended Mount Wachusett Community College.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, a Eucharistic Minister, a member of its choir and member of its Ladies of St. Anne Society. Mrs. Vaillancourt volunteered at Heywood Hospital for 11 years and crocheted clothes for its infants. She enjoyed playing cards and bowling.
Her husband of 25 years, Wilfrid Vaillancourt, died in 1972.
She leaves 2 sons, Richard W. Vaillancourt of Gardner and David A. Vaillancourt of Hooksett, NH; 1 daughter Gail A. Patria of Templeton; 3 sisters, Ida Carlson of Ocala, FL, Aldora Melanson and Delia Jean, both of Gardner; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 2 sisters, Evelyn Doherty and Rita Levesque.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 18th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Winchendon.
A calling hour at the funeral home will be Monday, April 18th from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.
