Anita Mary (Allain) Leroy, 84, of 63 Bemis Road, Hubbardston and formerly of 294 Baker Street, Gardner died peacefully Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation, Lancaster following a long battle with dementia.
Born in Mexico, Maine on February 18, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Fabienna (Trial) Allain.
Anita graduated from Gardner High School, Gardner with the Class of 1946. She was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner, A.A.R.P. and the Gardner Golden Agers.
She enjoyed gardening, walking, bowling, baking and traveling on bus trips. Anita liked to play BINGO and cards. She enjoyed going to yard sales with her sister Gerry and watching Perry Mason and Soap Operas on television.
Besides her husband of 65 years, Lawrence E. Leroy, Jr. of Hubbardston; she leaves one son, Timothy H. Leroy and his wife Cyndi of Winchendon; four daughters, Susan Linda Barnard and her husband Charles of Hubbardston, Cynthia A. LeBlanc and her significant other, David Harvey of Hubbardston, Brenda M. Stickney and her husband Dale of Baldwinville and Maureen E. Owens and her husband Robert of Gardner; one sister, Irene Fournier of Gardner; one half-sister, Janice Plante of Rumford, Maine; five grandchildren, Christopher Tourtellot, Jason Dell, Travis Stickney, Trisha Pietras and Connor Leroy; four step-grandchildren, Kelly Barnard, Charles Barnard, Jr., Debbie Owens and Heather Owens; several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Geraldine Arsenault and Barbara A. Maillet and by one grandson, Adam Gallant who died in 2000.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, September 8th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
A calling hour in the funeral home will be Saturday, September 8th from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
