Anita (Richard) Lajoie, 88, of 116 Church Street, Gardner and who previously resided at 98 Leamy Street, Gardner for 35 years, died peacefully, Thursday, July 30th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness from complications of a stroke.
Born in Leominster, MA on December 25, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Felix and Nathalie (Allain) Richard.
Prior to retiring in 1980, Anita was a stitcher employed by Denney Manufacturing of Gardner for 10 years.
Anita was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.
Anita enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, and watching the "Price is Right" on television. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and enjoyed her trips to California. Anita loved her family, and will be remembered for always putting others before her self.
She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, William A. Lajoie who died in 1974.
She leaves six sons, Ronald "Choc" Lajoie and his wife Lola of Port Orange, FL, Robert "Bob" Lajoie and his wife Sharon of Hubbardston, Paul "Pit" Lajoie of Kalamazoo, MI, Francis "Frank" Lajoie and his wife Theresa of Baldwinville, Dennis "Gin" Lajoie of Gardner and Edward Lajoie of Gardner; three daughters, Nancy Richard of Gardner, Sally Mitchell and her husband Robert of Baldwinville and Sheila Earle of Gardner; one brother, Aurele Richard and his wife Beverly of Gardner; one aunt, Eva Allain of Gardner; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours in the funeral home will be Sunday, August 2nd from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M.
