Andrew A. "Andy" Meunier, 84, of 156 Coleman St., Gardner, died peacefully June 26th in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, University Campus, Worcester surrounded by his family.
Born in Lowell, Vermont on August 21, 1926, he was the son of Noe and Bernadette (Boulais) Meunier.
Andy was a sales manager employed by S & S Appliance of Athol for 15 years until retiring in 1991. He was previously an appliance and television technician employed by several local appliance dealers including O'Donnell's Appliance Center, Gardner Appliance Co. and Sears Roebuck Co.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, American Legion Post 129 of Gardner and AARP.
Andy was a very positive person with an upbeat demeanor who always greeted everyone with a smile. He loved to dance and had a great zest for life. He was always willing to help people and was very handy with his hands. He renovated his entire home and was nicknamed "Handy Andy". He repaired sewing machines, enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family. He was a bicyclist and hiker and enjoyed watching the history channel. He had a keen interest following the stock market results.
Andy was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran and served from 1950 to 1952.
He leaves a son, Brian A. Meunier and his wife Perky Edgerton of Swarthmore, PA; 2 daughters, Karen A. Meunier of Rockland, ME, Donna M. Meunier-Malecki and her husband John of Templeton; a brother, Roger L. Meunier and his wife Doris of Templeton; 2 sisters, Claire A. Albee and her husband Ronald of Gardner, Jeannette M. French and her husband John of Templeton; 6 grandchildren, Marina and Lela Meunier, Katie and Denver Hill, Alexi and Jake Malecki; 1 great-grandchild, Xia Hill; 2 sisters-in-law, Rita Meunier of Gardner, Marie Meunier of Baldwinville; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 4 brothers, Rheo, Romeo, Raymond, and George Meunier.
Funeral services from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, will be Friday, July 8th with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Thursday, July 7th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
