Alyre J. Barrieau, 85, of 17 Limerick St., Gardner, died Saturday, March 25th in the Leo P. LaChance Center for Rehabilitation & Nursing, Gardner, following a short illness.

Born in Acadieville, NB, Canada on July 10, 1920, he was the son of Hubert and Delina (Barrieau) Barrieau.

He was a carpenter employed by Spinelli Construction Co. of Leominster and Walter Maki of Gardner until retiring in 1985. He was previously employed by the former Heywood-Wakefield Co. of Gardner.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church.

His wife of 12 years, Lillian M. (Hanson) Barrieau died in 1990.

He leaves 2 brothers, Joseph Barrieau and wife Florine, Basile Barrieau all of Gardner; 2 sisters, Virginie Richard of Waltham, Marguerite Vautour and husband Francois of Gardner; 1 stepson, Robert M. Page and wife Kathy of South Windsor, CT; 1 stepdaughter, Sally Page of Florida; a sister-in-law, Laudia Barrieau of Bouctouche, NB, Canada; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a stepdaughter Jane Page, 2 brothers, Adolph and Francois Barrieau.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 28th @ 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

There are no calling hours.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society or Holy Rosary Church Organ Fund, both at 135 Nichols St., Gardner, MA 01440.

The Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, MA is in charge of arrangements.
