Alvin S. Rodski, 81, of 55 Bond Street, Gardner died peacefully, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, surrounded by his family, following a period of failing health.
Born in Gardner on December 6, 1931, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Urban) Rodski.
Alvin graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1949, and received his Associates Degree in Accounting from Worcester Junior College in 1951.
He was employed by United States Postal Service in Gardner as a mail clerk for nearly 50 years, rarely missing a day of work.
Alvin was a United States Korean War Navy Veteran and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Navy Occupational Service Medal.
He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Gardner.
Alvin enjoyed Polka music and was an avid fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He was a former member of the American Legion Post #129 of Gardner and the Knights of Lithuania, Gardner.
He leaves his wife of 46 years, Pauline A. (Wesockes) Rodski of Gardner; two sons, Peter A. Rodski and his wife Chanda of New Albany, IN and David A. Rodski and his wife Karen of Seven Valley's, PA; one stepson, Paul D. Wesockes of Queens, NY; one sister, Maryann Langlois of Gardner; twelve grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one sister, Helen Jasulavic.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 23rd from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 166 Cross Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be Friday, November 22nd from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
