Alphee J. Maillet

Alphee J. Maillet, 77, of 5 Emerald St., Gardner died unexpectedly Saturday in his residence.

Born in Gardner on October 14, 1925, he was the son of Melas and Babee (Desroche) Maillet.

He was a foreman employed by Gem Industries of Gardner for 40 years until retiring in 1989.

He was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. He was a member of V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner, Gardner Golden Agers, a founding member of the Salmon Club and a member of USS Missouri Association.

He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and received the World War II Victory Medal and the American Area Ribbon with 3 Stars. Mr. Maillet was present for the signing of the Surrender of Japan during World War II.

His wife of 48 years, Barbara A. (Allain)Maillet, died in 1999.

He leaves 1 son, James P. Maillet of Gardner; 3 daughters, Karen A. Mercier of E. Templeton, Pamela M. Weeks of Cookeville, TN and Joyce M. Cormier of Gardner; 3 brothers, Emilien J. Maillet of Arvada, CO, Fidele J. Maillet of Red Wing, MN and Medric J. Maillet of Gardner; 5 grandchildren, 1 great-granddaughter, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
