Alodie M. "Lodi" (Vautour) Richard, 88, of 104 Church St., Gardner, died Monday, August 7th in Quabbin Valley Health Care, Athol, after a long period of failing health.

Born in St. Louis, NB, Canada on November 16, 1917, she was the daughter of Fidele J. and Marie Luce (Robichaud) Vautour.

She was a machine operator employed by Barre Mills of Barre for ten years until retiring several years ago.

Mrs. Richard was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and its Ladies of St. Anne Society. She belonged to the Gardner Golden Age Club and A.A.R.P. She enjoyed crocheting, bingo, reading and was an excellent cook, baker and cake decorator.

Her husband of 53 years, Roger P. Richard died in 1993.

She leaves 2 sons, Eugene F. Richard and wife Dale, Ronald E. Richard and wife Diane; 2 daughters, Elaine M. Smith and fiance Michael Salame all of Gardner, Lucille A. Jaillet and fiance Edward Erskine of Peterborough, NH; 7 grandchildren, Kirsten Fichtel, Spencer Gagnon, Angela Fournier, Paula Richard, Brian Smith, Tracy Wirtanen and Tina Croteau; 11 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by 4 brothers, Lionel, Eric, Saturnin (Red), and Edgar Vautour, 1 sister, Aline Woodford and her step-mother, Josephine Vautour.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 10th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday, August 9th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
