Almina M. "Mina" (Boucher) Girard, 89, of 104 Church Street, Gardner, died Wednesday, October 15th in the Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville.
Born in Fitchburg on January 6, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine (Bedard) Boucher.
Mrs. Girard attended Fitchburg High School, Fitchburg. She became a hairdresser after attending Brohm's Hairdressing School in Worcester.
Almina was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Fitchburg.
She enjoyed knitting and sewing and was a seamstress for many years. Almina also enjoyed going for long car rides. She treasured time spent with her family.
Almina was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Raymond A. Girard, Sr. who died August 13, 2006.
She leaves two sons, Raymond A. Girard and his wife Cyndi of Northfield and David A. Girard and his wife Sylvia of Westminster; one sister, Beatrice "Bea" Leger of Fitchburg; five grandchildren, Melissa Girard of Bernardston, Nicholas Girard of New York City, Andrew and Stuart Girard of Northfield and Wendy Sands of Gardner; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two brothers, Elie and Henry Boucher and by four sisters, Cecile Boucher, Yvonne Rufriange, Regina LaFortune and Sr. Alice Boucher of the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, October 25th at 11:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, 22 Cottage Street, Fitchburg. Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Westminster.
