Aline Melanson

Marie Aline (Surette) Melanson, 90, of 61 Jean St., Gardner, died Thursday, March 6th in Wachusett Manor Nursing Home, Gardner following a short illness.

Born in Bouctouche, NB Canada on August 12, 1917, she was the daughter of Vital and Celina (Cormier) Surette.

She was a sander employed at Modern Contract Co. of Gardner for 11 years, retiring in 1982.

Mrs. Melanson was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. She enjoyed knitting, quilting, and loved doing yard work, especially gardening.

Her husband of 56 years, Joseph Melanson, died in 2004.

She leaves a son, Rene Melanson and his wife Denise of Templeton; a daughter, Ann Mastin and husband George of East Dennis; 4 grandchildren, Leigh and Corey Mastin, Jay and Matthew Melanson; 1 greatgrandchild, Braedyn Melanson; several nieces, nephews and 2 cousins. She was predeceased by 5 brothers, Irenee, Aurele, Christian, Arthur and Charlie Surette and three sisters, Elizanne Levesque, Sarah Daigle and Eva Leger.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 12th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner, with a Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, March 11th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
