Alice T"Coopie" Fontaine

Alice T. (Maher) (Croteau) Fontaine, 83, of Baldwinville, died peacefully Thursday, June 9, 2016 in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness.
She was born in Athol on June 3, 1933, daughter of the late Francis and Vivian (Levesque) Maher.
Alice was a 1952 graduate of Ralph C. Mahar Regional High School, Orange. She graduated from Henry Heywood Hospital School of Nursing, Gardner, in 1955.
She was a Registered Nurse employed by Dr. James Faust for 40 years, retiring in 2008.
Alice was a member Holy Spirit Church, Gardner, and a member of the Gardner Women's League Golf Association.
'Coopie' was very social and loved spending time with her family and friends. Golf was her passion. She was a member of the Gardner Municipal Golf Course for over 40 years. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Maine, and spending winters in the Florida Keys. Alice was a very active volunteer in the community.
She leaves her husband of twenty years, James A. Fontaine of Baldwinville; one son, Michael K. Croteau and his wife Kristine of Leominster; two daughters, Carrie-Ann Croteau of Leominster, Christine A. Croteau of Needham; one brother, Thomas Maher and his wife Barbara of Sparta, NJ; a sister, Josephine Bizarro of Springfield; three grandchildren, William and Christopher Burke, and Tiffany Normandin and her husband Nicholas; a great grandson, Maximus Normandin; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her former husband Kenneth Croteau who died in 1989.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, June 15, 2016, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, with a mass at Holy Spirit Church, 50 Lovewell Street, Gardner. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, June 14, 2016, from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
