Alfred R. "Al" Landry, 83, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in his residence surrounded by family.
Alfred was born in Gardner on September 22, 1934, the son of the late Hector and Donalda (Dube) Landry.
He was employed by George B. Bent Company, Inc. of Gardner for 40 years as a furniture craftsman, retiring in 1997.
Alfred was a member of Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church of Gardner. He was also a member of the Gardner Golden Agers, the Gardner Chapter of AARP and the Gardner Trout Club. He was a former member of the Polish American Citizens Club, the Beagle Club and the Deep Sea Club, all of Gardner. Alfred was also a former manager of the Royal Cadets of Gardner several years ago.
He was an avid fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox and the Boston Bruins. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a huge fan of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. Alfred also enjoyed spending time at Foxwoods, repairing furniture and country line dancing. In his earlier years, he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He will be remembered for his sense of humor and the many, many jokes he loved to share.
Alfred leaves his wife of 65 years, Georgette L. (Leger) Landry of Gardner; three sons, Richard P. Landry and his wife Linda of Athol, Russell J. Landry and his wife Karen of Lunenburg and Ronnald G. Landry and his wife Diane of Gardner; one daughter, Roxanne M. Hermanson and her husband Jeffrey of Gardner; sister-in-law, Theresa "Terry" Landry of Gardner; brother-in-law, Angelo "Sid" Olivari of Gardner; six grandchildren, John Hermanson, Chanda Hermanson, Meghan Landry, Britney Landry, Ronnald Landry, Jr., Brian Landry and Brandon Landry; twelve great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Renette T. Landry; brother, Hector "Sling" Landry, Jr.; and sisters, Lorraine Goguen, Priscilla Monette and Diana Olivari.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 25th at 12:00 p.m. in the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, January 25th from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
