Alcide J"Al" Boudreau

Alcide J. "Al" Boudreau, 89, of 42 Racette Avenue, Gardner died peacefully, Tuesday, May 14, 2013 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, following a brief illness.
He was born in St. Anne, N.B. Canada on June 2, 1923, the son of the late Zacharie and Nathalie (Renault) Boudreau.
He served in the Canadian Army during WWII from 1941 - 1945 during the invasion of Normandy, and was wounded in action in Europe.
Alcide worked as a lumberjack in New York before moving to Gardner in the late 1940's. He became a naturalized United States citizen in the early 1950's. He was first employed by Heywood Wakefield Company of Gardner. He later found his niche delivering oil, and was first employed for 20 years by the former Gardner Oil Company of Gardner and then for 16 years by Peoples Fuel Company of Gardner, retiring in 1983.
Alcide was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church and it's League of Sacred Heart. He was a life member of the Beagle Club of Gardner, member of the Acadien Social Club and member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 747 of Gardner.
He enjoyed playing cribbage, gardening and cooking. Alcide was an avid fan and follower of all the Boston sports teams.
He leaves his wife of 64 years, Anita M. (Fournier) Boudreau of Gardner; two sons, Stephen and his wife Susan of Lisbon, NH and Gary and his wife Susan of Berlin, MA; five grandchildren, Jeffrey of Ashland, OR, Stacy of Gardner, Holly of Framingham, Nicholas of Clinton and Hilary of Berlin; one sister, Martha Leblanc of St. Anne, NB Canada; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by 13 siblings, many of whom spent their lives in New Brunswick, Canada. Those who resided in Gardner were Imelda Doiron, Aquila Boudreau and Jeanne Frenette.
All services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
