Albert A. "Joe Green" Zielinski, 75, of 6B Main St., Otter River, died unexpectedly in his residence Friday, February 22nd.
Born in Templeton on June 12, 1932, he was the son of Wladislaw and Mary Ann (Brzonska) Zielinski.
He was a woodworker employed by S. Bent Co. Of Gardner for 35 years until retiring in 1997. He was formerly employed at Temple-Stuart Co. of Baldwinville.
He was a 1949 graduate of Templeton High School. Albert was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, V.F.W. Ovila Case Post 905 of Gardner and was a founding member of the Otter River Sportsman's Club. He was an avid stamp collector and enjoyed walking and reading history books pertaining to the local area. He was a great fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots.
He was a Korean War U.S. Army veteran and received the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.
He leaves one son, Gregory M. Poirier of Otter River, a daughter, Laura L. Tompkins and her husband Hank of Forestdale; a brother, Edward Zielinski and his wife Marguerite of Baton Rouge, LA; 2 sisters, Olga Zielinski of Otter River, Helen Nicholas and her husband Bryan of Gardner; 2 grandchildren, Kallie Tompkins and Alexander Thibodeau; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves his former wife, Linda L. Lamontagne of Hubbardston. He was predeceased by a brother, Mieciek Zielinski.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27th from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols St., Gardner with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols St., Gardner. Burial will be in the MA Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Tuesday, February 26th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
