Albert E. "Al" Marion, 77, of 131 Champagne Road, Gardner, died suddenly, Monday, February 1st in Heywood Hospital, Gardner.

Al was born in Gardner on February 1, 1933, the son of the late Joseph and Esther (Leroy) Marion.

Prior to retiring in 1986, he was employed for 6 six years as the Maintenance Supervisor of Davenport Building Co. of S. Yarmouth, MA. He was previously the Maintenance Supervisor of Hillcrest Nursing Home in Fitchburg.

Al was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, Gardner.

He was a member of the Gardner Chapter of AARP and the Gardner Golden Agers.

Al was a United States Army Korean War Veteran and received the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the Combat Infantry Badge, the United Nations Service Medal with one over seas Bar, and the Parachute Badge.

Al's hobbies included playing cards, particularly cribbage, painting and golfing. He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. Al was an animal lover and enjoyed watching the Animal Planet on television. He especially loved his cat Yoda.

Al leaves his longtime companion, Lucille C. Britt of Gardner; one daughter, Deborah Osborne and her husband Luke Makes of Fitchburg; a half brother, Ronald Marion and his wife Crystal of Albany, NY; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, six nieces, two nephews and several cousins. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Marion and a sister, Patricia Ouelette.

A Memorial Service will be held Monday, February 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 111 Glenallen Street, Winchendon.

There are no calling hours.
