Albert “Al” H. Forget, 86, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, June 29, 2021, in Wachusett Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.
Born in Fitchburg on August 14, 1934, he was the son of the late Adrien and Marie Rose (Deschenes) Forget. He graduated from St. Bernards High School in Fitchburg with the Class of 1952. Al was a United States Air Force Korean War Veteran serving from 1953 to 1957, where he earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was employed at Simonds Saw for more than 20 years. Al was previously employed by Decotone of Westminster for more than 20 years and GEM Industries of Gardner for several years.
Al was a member of the St. Joseph Club in Fitchburg, the Gardner Horseshoe Club, and the Napoleon Club of Gardner. He enjoyed golfing and horseshoes. He loved to dance and had many great nights with his wife of 51 years, Sheila, dancing the night away. In his retirement, he and Sheila were able to travel extensively and loved every minute of it.
Al is survived by his wife, Sheila T. (Gonyeo) Forget of Gardner; one brother, Leo Forget and his wife Lorraine of Fitchburg; one sister, Irene Cheries and her husband Paul of Ashburnham; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Marcel and Camille Forget; and two sisters, Gabrielle Leger, and Adrienne Desroches.
Funeral and Graveside Services at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Gardner, MA, will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
