Albert J."Al" Cormier

Albert J. "Al" Cormier, 86, of 73 Baptist Common Road, Templeton, died Monday, January 4th in Heywood Hospital, Gardner, following a brief illness.

Born in Gardner on April 11, 1923, he was the son of Alyre and Helena (Goguen) Cormier.

Al was a self employed General Contractor for 60 years, retiring recently due to illness.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Gardner.

Al was a member of the Gardner Fish and Gun Club, the Acadien Social Club of Gardner and the Metronome Club.

Al's hobbies included hunting and fishing. He loved his work and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Al leaves his wife of 44 years, Shirley M. (Courtemanche) Cormier of Templeton; three sons, Robert J. and his wife Bonnie of Swanton, Vermont, Albert J., Jr of Templeton and Shawn D. and his wife Nancy of Templeton; two daughters, Barbara L. Barker of Merritt Island, Florida and Sharon D. Bastarache of Gardner; two brothers, Leo J. Cormier of Gardner and Gerald Cormier of California; two sisters, Lorraine Perry and her husband Donald of West Palm Beach, Florida and Geraldine Cormier of Mayo, Florida; three grandchildren, Krystal Bastarache of Leominster, Jodie Bastarache of Leominster and Raina Cormier of Brattleboro, Vermont; four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Jayden, Trenton and Taigen Cormier all of Brattleboro, Vermont; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ovila and Aurele Cormier and by one great-granddaughter, Alexis Cormier.

Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, New England Division, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.

Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner is handling the arrangements.
