Alan F. "Al" Thompson, 56, of Herman, Maine, formerly of Gardner, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in HealthAlliance Hospital of Leominster, following a short illness.
Born in Gardner on December 16, 1958, he was the son of Francis A. and the late Gloria (Cormier) Thompson.
Al graduated from Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School of Fitchburg in 1977.
He was a machinist employed by General Electric Company of Bangor, Maine for 28, retiring recently due to illness.
His family was the most important aspect of his life and he truly loved his grandchildren who brought him much joy and happiness. Al loved music, fishing and his dog "Josie".
Besides his father, Francis A. Thompson of Gardner he leaves one daughter, Amanda Knight and her husband Paul of Etna, Maine; two brothers, Brian Thompson and his wife Mary of Pensacola, FL and Mark Thompson and his wife Angela of Baldwinville; four sisters, Susan Knight and her husband Thomas of Gardner, Gail LaFortune and her significant other, Jack Murphy of Templeton, Sandra Heyes and her husband Stephen of Ashby and Janet White and her husband Phillip of Powhatan, VA; two grandchildren, Ashton Alan Knight and Ava Maria Knight; two uncles, Donald Cormier and Buster Cormier, both of Tuscon, AZ; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by one nephew, Sean Thompson.
Funeral Services will held Tuesday, July 21st from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner with a Mass at 11:00 a.m. in Annunciation Parish/Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner.
A calling hour will be held Tuesday, July 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
