Alan R. Duplacy, 82, of Gardner, died peacefully Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in his home surrounded by his family after a period of declining health.
Born in Gardner on March 7, 1942, he was the son of the late Lionel and Ruth (LaPrade) Duplacy. He graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1959. Alan was a United States Air Force Veteran serving from 1959 to 1963, where he received the Good Conduct Medal. His service to his country was something he was most proud of, as it was how he met the love of his life while stationed in Germany. Alan was a sub-station maintenance technician employed by Mass Electric for over 38 years prior to his retirement.
Alan was a parishioner of Annunciation Parish of Gardner, practicing at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church as well as St. Vincent de Paul Church of Baldwinville. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Church Adoration Chapel of Baldwinville. Alan loved to bowl and participated in many leagues throughout the years. He also enjoyed traveling to the islands, watching sports, and working in his gardens. Alan's pride and joy were his family, and he treasured all the special times together.
Alan is survived by his three sons and their families, Gregory Duplacy and his wife Christine of Tennessee and their children, Monica, KC, and Mackenzie, Jeffrey Duplacy and his wife Janeen of Gardner and their children, William, Patrick, Ashely, Connor and Riley, and Matthew Duplacy and his significant other Rosemary Haskell of Gardner and their children Kyle and Miles; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Carter; two sisters, Ann Vautour of Gardner, and Sylvia Kelley and her husband Tom of New Hampshire; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 58 years, Gisela (Kraft) Duplacy, who died in 2022.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, May 20, 2024, from the Boucher Funeral Home, Inc., 110 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA, with a Mass at 12:00 p.m. in Annunciation Parish at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 135 Nichols Street, Gardner, MA. Burial with Military Honors will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, West Street, Gardner, MA.
Calling Hours will be held Monday, May 20, 2024, from 9:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
