Abdoljavad Mohaghegh, 83, of 218 Reservoir Street, Holden, formerly of Auburn, MA, died Tuesday, March 13th in Holden Nursing Home, Holden following an illness.
Born in Semnan-Iran on March 27, 1923, he was the son of Atta and Shokat (Harati) Mohaghegh.
Abdol was a retired Educator, last employed as President of Teachers College in Tehran-Iran for 37 years, retiring in 1978. He was previously employed at Bandar Abass Teachers College, also in Tehran.
He graduated in 1950 from Karaj College of Agricultural Engineering and in 1953, he received his Bachelors of Arts degree in History and Geography from Tehran University in Iran.
Abdol was Chairman of the Board of the International Red Cross at Semnan Hospital, Iran. He was a member of the Lion's Clubs International, Iran, and a member of the Point Four Program that Harry S Truman founded for developing countries, including Iran. He was also a Boy Scout leader in Iran.
He leaves his wife of 65 years, Masumeh Mohaghegh of Holden; his 101 year old mother, Shokat (Harati) Mohaghegh of Semnan-Iran; 3 sons, Mehdi Mohaghegh and his wife Goldie of Burlington, VT, Saeed Mohaghegh and his wife Neda, and Hamid Mohaghegh and his wife Ellie both of Holden, MA.; 2 daughters, Nayareh Fuladi and her husband Jafar of Agoura Hills, CA and Farideh Khatami and her husband Ebrahim of Worcester; 6 brothers, Karim Mohaghegh of Semnan-Iran, Lotfolal Mohaghegh, Taghi Mohaghegh and Ali Mohaghegh all of Tehran-Iran, Nosrat Mohaghegh of Vancouver, OR, and Ghodrat Mohaghegh of Seattle, WA; 3 sisters, Nehzat Najafi, Efat Ghodrati and Beljat Razavi all of Tehran-Iran; 11 grandchildren, Bob and Nicki Fuladi, Jason, Nicole, Justin, Ramin, Roshanak Mohaghegh, David and Belnas Khatami, Michael and Daniel Mohaghegh; 3 great-grandchildren, Michael Jr., John and Christopher Mohaghegh.
Funeral services are private and will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Abdoljavad Mohaghegh on Sunday, March 18th at 12:00 p.m. at The Manor, 42 W. Boylston Street, Route 12, W. Boylston, MA.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Natick, MA 01760. The family is establishing an Educational Foundation in Abdoljavad's name to assist students entering college. Donations may be mailed to Hamid Mohaghegh, 253 Cranbrook Drive, Holden, MA 01520.
